This was stupidity also because all they had to do to prevent the Wicain's from displaying there stuff across from baby Jesus on Christmas is pass a law requiring IRS exempt status to be recognized as a valid religion by Olean and allowed to display on government property and also only allow display of this religious stuff only (1)once or (2)twice a year for each religion for equal lengths of time. They should further restrict it too the 1 or 2 times that are considered the most major celebrations in each respective religion.

Government should also have a requirement for religions to get a permit for the display(6 months in advance or 30 days in advance), insurance for passer bys, visitors and traffic accidents, damage to government property, payment for snow removal around site, electrical inspection permit for outdoor electrical at site, inspection of any temporary shelters or fencing and bleachers, require 2 licensed security guards 24/7 at display site paid in advance or a pre-payment for 2  policeman a shift to provide security at the site and traffic management when needed, if any conditions of the permit are violated or display creates a public danger the town may require and increase of security or increase in payment for police services before a permit would be allowed for a display again by any recognized religious group for the same celebration or next permissible and final celebration allowed for that year, even if not the same sect or parish or participants, group, entity, IRS recognized exempt religious group applying for the permit for religious display.

What all this would mean is you wouldn't have Christian's, (Christmas and Easter) Muslim's (Ramadan & awlid al-Nabi ) and Jewish (Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur) and Wicca (Imbolc on FEB-2,Samhain on OCT-31.),Hinduism (Wesak, Dusserah), Sikhism (Birthday of Guru Nanak, Birthday of Guru Gobind Singh) and any other religion being displayed at the same time, most times, but they would get equal access to government property, totally legal.

No one could complain and there would be no conflict! Also if its not your holiday there's no reason for you to even ever see the other religions display close up because you won't be looking for it or stopping to admire it, unless you want too.

 Right now as it stood the Wicain display in Olean was erected for no more of a reason than to irritate the Christians during there celebrations as an act of hate, 12- 21 is a minor wicain observance.

Further, it doesn't make sense that a religion that has no major celebration going on (Wicain) can set up a display across from another religion (Christian) on there major holiday celebration on government property just to spite the other religion and ruin there celebration. That's just practicing hate.

 Oct 31 is the big Holiday for Wicain's, It's there New Year Celebration!
